Flexi Reform of the Labor Code passed the Chamber of Deputies. What will change?
25.04.2025
The Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic approved the amendment to the Labor Code, the so-called Flexi Reform, which brings significant changes to labor relations. Below, we list some of them.
The probationary period is extended to four months for common employees and eight months for executives. The notice period now begins to run on the day the notice is delivered, not from the first day of the following month after its delivery. Together, the notice period is shortened for dismissal for disciplinary reasons (violation of work duties).
Parents on parental leave will have the opportunity to conclude an agreement on services/work activities or an agreement to complete a job for the same type of work as they have in their employment contract, with their employer. When returning, if they return before the child is two years old, they are guaranteed to return to the same working position and workplace (so-called “to the same chair and desk”).
As for the sphere of unemployment benefits, there is an increase – in the first months, the benefit will increase to 80% of the previous net earnings, while in the final months it will drop to 40%. The age limits for the support periods will also change.
The amendment will now be discussed in the Senate. Then, it will await the signature of the President.
